Kia Brewer: What Can I Expect During My First Appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your experiences and concerns, and begin identifying what you would like to accomplish. You don't need to have everything figured out, and there is no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. My priority is to create an environment where you feel respected, supported, and comfortable being yourself.

What a listed area of focus tells you

Life transitions brings together profiles that list this focus in their public information. A focus label does not tell you which appointment or treatment a person needs. Read each profile’s actual services and profession, and ask the practice which service is available for the age group and appointment format you are seeking.

An evaluation, medication-management visit, therapy session and group meeting are different appointments. Start by confirming the service offered, who conducts it and how to request it. You can use the linked guides below to compare provider roles and prepare practical questions.
